Winter Is Upon Us...

I just checked the weather this morning and discovered that temperatures are going to plummet this week into the 30's! Welcome to the city? It's definitely going to take some adjusting to this freezing weather considering I'm used to wearing a light* winter coat for about two months out of the year in Georgia.  That being said, I have been on the hunt for the perfect winter coat for quite some time and now it is coming down to the wire where I need to make a decision.  My criteria include 1) warmth, 2) versatility, and 3) fashionability. Here are my top picks, comment below to vote for which one is your favorite!

Asos Mono Check Longline Wrap Coat, $195.78

2)

Eva Mendes Collection- Milano One-Button Coat, $159.95

3)
 Asos Graphic Blocked Coat, $142.38

4)

Zara Checked Coat, $239.00

October Fashion Fest

Now that I have started my new job at Sulia, a social media sharing website, I am much more informed about the latest fashion news and trends. I've discovered some amazing bloggers that I am following on a daily basis and have scoured the web for new shopping sites with affordable, yet high quality clothing.  Some of my top picks for shopping include www.keep.com which is a mix between pinterest and instagram, and pixiemarket.com which offers clothing under $100 that resemble runway looks. Inspirational bloggers I came across such as www.SeaofShoes.com and www.peaceloveshea.com provided professional-level photographs of beautiful and wearable outfits.  They even provide links to similar, cheaper pieces if the item they're wearing is expensive.

After scouring the web for weeks,  I felt the need to document the amazing finds and looks that inspired me. Here is an accumulation of my favorite things!

I fell in love with this top the moment I saw it.  The flared sleeves and chiffon slip underneath give it an expensive feeling.

This dress is so similar to Hedi Slimane's version that Zooey Deschanel recently wore in the latest issue of Marie Claire.  Find it here:   http://www.pixiemarket.com/new/rebel-girl-plaid-dress.html

I came across this studded leather skirt that resembles many of french designer Isabel Marant's cool-girl Parisian style pieces. You can get one here: http://www.pixiemarket.com/new/jesse-studded-leather-skirt.html

This is Jane, my new favorite blogger who's style is so sophisticated for a Texas native who isn't even in college yet. I died for her flouncy skirt and halter tank that screams Audrey Hepburn. She sets herself apart with her fiery red mane and knack for looking effortlessly cool.
Shea is a world traveller who just happens to also be extremely fashionable. She has a personal videographer who films her fabulous life to places like Rome, Paris, and Florence or even Coachella. Her videos are set to eclectic music and show her frolicking around huge cities with glamourous people.  It makes me hate her, yet admire the fact that she has made a career for herself out of being fabulous.

The Anticipation..FW SS'13

I am currently at home in Georgia to mentally rest up for the absolute madness that is about to commence as New York Fashion Week gears up at Mode.  I've been interning in the city for a little over 3 months now and have learned SO much that I feel like a completely different person when it comes to my career.  Don't worry! I'm still the same old Caitlin deep down ;)

This week will be the culmination of weeks and weeks of hard, and at times back breaking, labor.  It's ironic how I was a marketing major in college and have found myself in the fast-paced world of fashion pr.  They have their similarities, although I REALLY wish I had learned in college how to write a press release.  It's okay though, I definitely know how to write one now! Nowadays when I don't know how to do something, I use the most beautiful website ever created..."Google."

The plan for the next week and a half involves making sure two presentations and two runway shows go according to plan and that we have the best possible editors, stylists, and journalists in attendance.  My role in all of this is still somewhat blurry to me but I'm sure it will be a whirlwind of attending to whatever Amanda (owner of Mode) and Neada (Account Manager) need. I'm just expected to show up ready to work and dressed in head to toe black. Needless to say, I am extremely excited, anxious, and ready for everything I've worked so hard for to be set in motion.

Hopefully this is just the beginning of many fashion weeks to come and a transition into a career that will solidify my place in the city. Even though I may be wearing all black this week, I may as well try to make it my own, so here are a few items that fashion pr girls can wear behind the scenes for FW.

To carry the necessities: Water, Band-aids, snacks, and lip stick

Comfy rocker boots (you can wear socks to ease the pain)

Gorgeous crocodile skin flats with generous padding for a jam-packed day

A few different black, yet non-restricting options for a day in the tents, behind the scenes of course.

I had to include a few after-party options too....what can I say? I like to work-hard AND play hard.
